Plug USB headset into PC (do not plug into a docking station or USB hub) “ wait for installation process to complete > left-click the audio icon at the bottom-left corner of main SfB window > left-click the Plantronics headset for your Primary Device > select Audio Device Settings to test and adjust your headset Speaker, Microphone and Ringer volumes > check Also Ring box and select an alternate ringer if desired.

- Adjust listening volume on headset (or your speaker): press the up volume button on headset or speaker control.
- Adjust listening volume in Windows: from Windows desktop > left-click Speaker icon (beside time clock in lower-right corner of screen) > left-click and drag slider to adjust volume.
- Adjust listening volume in SfB: left-click the audio icon at the bottom-left corner of main SfB window > Audio Device Settings > verify your headset or speaker is selected in top drop down menu > adjust speaker slider.
- Headset or speaker device could be on mute: if it’s a corded headset, mute control is inline next to answer/end button.
- Microphone placement is key “ if not properly positioned the result can be low or no transmit, and/or echo and feedback. Microphone position is also crucial for proper noise cancelling.To correctly position microphone on corded headsets, bend the microphone boom within 1-2 finger widths from the corner of mouth.
Check to see which audio device is picking up your voice. It is possible that your voice is being picked up by your laptop or camera microphone, or another headset or speakerphone. - Verify Windows sound settings: from Windows desktop > right-click (not left-click) on Speaker icon (beside time clock on bottom tool bar in lower-right corner of screen) > select Playback devices > select your device in the list “ look for a green check icon next to it “Default Device”. Do the same in the Recording tab to the right of Playback tab.If your device is not set as the default device, it needs to be changed: right-click on your device in the list > select “Set as Default Device”. Do the same in the Recording tab to the right of the Playback tab.

- Adjust Sidetone in Windows (this works with corded headsets only). From Windows desktop > right-click (not left click) Speaker icon (beside time clock in lower-right corner of screen) > select Playback devices > right-click on your headset model in the list > Properties > Levels tab > adjust sidetone slider.

- Verify headset or speaker is plugged into USB port. If it’s wireless, verify the dongle has a blue light meaning it’s paired
- Verify it is selected as the Primary Device in SfB: left-click the audio icon at the bottom-left corner of main SfB window > if your device does not have a box around it, left-click on it and it will become the default

There was a computer update, now my headset does not work
The sound settings have likely been defaulted on the computer.
Verify Windows sound settings: from Windows desktop > Right-click Speaker icon (beside time clock in the lower-right corner of screen) > right-click (not left-click) > select Playback devices > select Plantronics headset “ look for a green check icon on the Plantronics headset and words Default Device. Do the same in the Recording tab to the right of Playback tab.
If Plantronics headset is not set as the default, it needs to be set as the default: right-click on the Plantronics headset > select Set as Default Device. Do the same in the Recording tab to the right of the Playback tab.
