What you might experience: Troubleshooting issues with Plantronics (now Poly) Savi Series headsets when they’re not working involves several steps. These headsets, including models from the Savi 7200, 7300, 8200, and 8400 series, may face problems like not charging, not connecting, poor audio quality, or not producing sound. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshooting these common issues:

1. Check Power and Charging

Ensure the base station is properly connected to a power source. If the headset uses a charging stand or dock, make sure it’s correctly seated.

If the headset isn’t charging, try a different power outlet or USB port. Check the power cables for any damage.

You could also try a different battery if you think that the battery is more than 2- 3 years old.

2. Ensure Proper Connection

Verify that the headset is correctly paired (subscribed) to the base station. If it’s not, refer to the user manual to re-subscribe the headset to its base.

If using a Bluetooth model, ensure the headset is correctly paired with your device. Unpair and re-pair if necessary.

If using a charging base check if the configuration switch letter from ‘A to D’ is at the proper letter. For Cisco desk phones letter switch should be ‘D’ but when using an EHS cable letter should be at ‘A’, other desk phone brands like Avaya, Mitel, etc. should be on ‘A’.

3. Audio Issues (No Sound, Poor Quality, etc.)

Check the volume settings on both the headset and the connected device. Increase the volume if it’s too low.

Ensure the headset is selected as the default audio device in your computer’s sound settings or the specific application you’re using.

Test the headset with another device or application to rule out device-specific issues.

4. Microphone Problems

Verify the microphone boom is correctly positioned near your mouth.

Ensure the mute function isn’t activated on the headset or the connected device.

Check the computer or phone’s audio settings to make sure the headset is set as the default input (microphone) device.

5.  Reset the Headset

Consult the user manual for instructions on resetting your specific Savi series headset model. A reset can often resolve unexplained issues by restoring factory settings.

6.  Firmware Update

Check if there’s a firmware update available for your headset. Updating the firmware can resolve existing issues and improve performance. Use the Poly (formerly Plantronics) Hub desktop software to check and update your headset’s firmware.
