Getting Rid of the Call Answer Alert

Estimated reading time: 1 min

Problem: My Plantronics headset beeps in my ear and takes a few seconds to connect to a call when using a calling application. It cuts off the first few moments of a call and make it difficult to connect.

Savi office headsets, as well as any of the Plantronics Bluetooth headsets that require a dongle, have what’s called an Answering Call Alert, as well as an Audio Channel Tone, that can both create a cushion of space to allow you to answer a call comfortably. However, it can also make the uptake of the call slower and present problems when answering. These can be turned off, let’s go over how.

Solutions:

-First, you’ll need to download Plantronics Hub or Poly Lens. These are both headset control software made by Poly and can help you change the settings for your device.

-Once you have the application downloaded, you’ll need to have the headset attached to the PC either through a USB cable or the USB dongle it came with. Connecting via Bluetooth only will not allow you to change settings.

-Navigate to the headset (not the dongle, which will appear as BT600 or BT700) in the upper left-hand corner of either app.

-Navigate to the Settings tab, and then to the General tab. Within the general tab, turn off the following: Answering Call Tone should be set to OFF, Audio Channel Tone should be set to OFF, and the APPLY button should be pressed to keep those settings.

-Make a test call and see if the lag has gone away.

Outcome: The lag in answering should be rectified.
